With corruption in governance, why should anyone fear law

Since it is known that there is widespread corruption in governance with even ministers being accused of corrupt practices, there is no fear of law amongst the people .

Now, it is not only the thieves who are law breakers but even well educated people who claim that they are religious and lead a decent life break the law frequently.

For example, the court has ruled in 2015 that no house owner should collect more than one month’s rent as advance from the tenant. Now, many house owners demand six months rental advance and sometimes even ten months rental advance from the tenant.

Even when they are reminded about the court ruling, they do not care as they have no fear of law.

There are many house owners who collect electricity tariff of Rs.9 or even more per unit from the tenant ,while the rate per unit charged by TANGEDCO is much less.

All these house owners are educated people and most of them with comfortable living conditions.

Why should they fear law when they know that with corruption in governance so common, they can get away with any violation.

The malpractice of Charging arbitrarily for electricity consumed by the tenants is condemnable . The house owner let the house units on rent with just one electricity Meter . As the slab goes up according to consumption the rate also goes up . So the house owner charges all the tenants at the highest tariff . That way his share of electricity is taken care from the extra amount collected from the Tenants. Having a single Meter the house owner doesn't declare the portions let out on rent . This way he goes off with a very small fraction of what he has t pay as House tax. DO YOU THINK IT IS DIFFICULT TO FIND THIS OUT EITHER BY THE CORPORATION AUTHORITIES WHO ASSES & COLLECT TAX ? OR BY THE E.B.PERSONNEL WHO COME TO TAKE THE READING . IF ONLY SUCH ANOMALIES ARE CORRECTED THE REVENUE INCREASE WILL BE ANOTHER 25 % MORE . more
In cases where the rental income is a major income particularly for retired persons, one cannot afford to keep the premises vacant and the notice period for vacating by a tenant is generally TWO months. Additionally, after each tenant vacates, the owner has to address repairs, replacements etc. Hence the courts have to review the judgement and allow a minimum of FOUR MONTHS ADVANCE. more
Yes corruption governance law is ok but who one come forward to support good activists now politicians are not human and no conscience more
Indira gandhi said that CORRUPTION is a GLOBAL PHENOMENON. there will be no end to this menace until evry one vows not to yield for PRESSURE for CORRUPTION more
You have quoted about renting a house. Law in this country is favourable to tenants and not to the owner. At Nagpur I gave my flat for rent only with two months advance as per the norm of that place. In the agreement it was included that two months notice to be given on both sides to vacate . My tenant who is educated well employed stopped paying the rent on one month and next month he vacated the house asking me to adjust the rent from advance and took away one of the ceiling fans. Blaming the owners alone is not correct. People follow the rules are fools and no law help them in time in this country. This country is only suitable for law breakers whether it is a tenant owner politician Govt. official poor or rich more
