Why Tamil Nadu proud of Kamala Harris ?
Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister has expressed his happiness that Kamala Harris has been nominated as US vice Presidential candidate. He is happy because her mother belonged to Tamil Nadu once.
It is amusing that people in Jamaica are celebrating since Harris’s father is a Jamaican. At the same time, people in Tamil Nadu are also celebrating since the mother of Harris is from Tamil Nadu . What a funny situation ?
The ground reality is that Harris is now neither a Jamaican nor an Indian but a US citizen.
Should we feel proud about persons who have left their motherland for good and have become citizens of other countries. should we be proud of them even as they have given up their motherland for good.

We should feel proud and happy that merit has got its recognition elswhere than in mother land. She did her education and became attorney which all are thro personal dedication and merit. As a nominee to the position of prospective V.P of U.S. she doe not have huge crowd behind her. The followers are only for her good work for the society. Definetly it is a contrast for a person of origin in U.S.and one who is a party leader in India. Here is followers are for some position and thro that to swindle public money and become rich. For that matte, if the networth of Ms.Kamala Harris is compared with that of any of the Indian politician, one will shock. It is purely merit, good work which will improve the economy and there by the social standard of individual citizens that will elevate a person, and not foolish dialogue on language or other issues. Again it is a matter of proud becuase it prove that people born or belong to this land are having the stuff but left to rot becuase of poitical interference in matter of education, economic development etc., by less merited poiticians. Let me clarify one aspect. Technically India doesn't permit dual nationality. Hence Indians who are staying abroad are left with no alternative than to accept North American, European, Australasian nationality depending upon where they reside. then their children become different nationals by Birth. Now India has permitted Overseas Citizen of India Cardholders. This will explain the situation. I have faced it and know the reality more

Sir, you are absolutely correct. The reason why many leave our country and settle in other countries is the prosperity and better status the new country offers. When they themselves proudly announce their US citizenship it is a pity that we take false pride that they are from our state or country. more

More than being proud of Kamala Harris, I admire and appreciate the people of USA for their broad mindedness, equality, fraternity while we in our country are doing all uncivilized, uncultured, inhuman activities against Muslims, Christians and even our own fellow men of Dalit origin, still putting a show of our land is of yoga, vedaas, swamijis, yogis, rishis, sanniyaasis still not learning to be human. more
