Why can't we IIT faculty join a political party and participate in helping the party?
IIT faculty, as per rule are Government employee. Government employees cannot join political party or participaty in party activities even it it does not disturb his duties. I feel, IIT faculty are a set of inteligent people, whose services are being denied even though they have no relation with Government secrets. This is a way to keep inteligent people away so that goons can rule the country. Officially I cannot be a member of AAP or even join it in a brain storming meeting on saturday and sundays.

A Government servant is not allowed in politics as he has many internal information. this is a way of protecting these people destroying or blackmailing the politicians (read Gandhi Family). But we faculty do not share any Government info. We have spare time in Saturday and sundays. In today's world, meetings can be attended on internet. More over, taking part in politics is our fundamental right.

Dear Anand, Job, for me, means any job for which I made commitment to deliver to someone. It is employment to earn money or social work. As per my understanding anyone work for below-mentioned (as prioritized) nothing is major/minor all are equally important. 1. Self-Sustainability 2. Take care of immediate family members 3. To take care of extended family-members, friends, relatives and society It is really nice experience to discuss with you on this topic. dear Ajit Sinha,hello, it is not a matter of entering politics and your views are apt, that if terms & conditions are not applicable, you better quit-just did that recently. but the point to be noted Ajit, as you have rightly said, is to do one's job honestly. We are all entrusted with one main job and one minor job-the major job is to fulfill one's potential/talents as bestowed to us by our creator and the minor one is the job we do for sustaining life. YOU may lucky if the job allows you to fulfill your potential.which job are you talking about ? the first or the second one ? in any case, the first one is more exciting and there we can be immensely helpful to one another and do for the well-being of the society as well without entering politics.
