Why Auto is more Expensive than Nano? And why TATA vehicle par with Auto not allowed in Mumbai?
Auto / Taxi charges are fixed with the cost of the investment and Petrol. When the investment is low the rates will be reduced and the public enjoy the facilities.

Yes, even in Bangalore it is operating as taxi. But Traffic size & mobility in Mumbai may be the reason to with hold permission, even Auto Union Pressure may be against to that. However, to stop the Auto Drivers refuse to ply for short distance & prefer their own destination better nano can be introduced at suburbs on trial basis, even point to point on feeder roots with share facility can be introduced. Most of the taxis and autos are converted to cng but still the fares are based o cost of petrol/diesel which is unfair. I would like to add that as an Indian why I have to pay different rates for petrol and diesel when I am in different states. It should be uniform.

A very noble and a great thought Mr. Chacko! I would like to add one more point here with regard to Auto/Taxi/Bus fares is that they also should fluctuate according to the petrol, diesel and CNG prices. Auto/Taxi/Bus which run on different fuels should have different meters, and fares should be charged according to the fuel used and distance travelled. Yes, the investment component in the fare should remain fixed for a specific period of time and the fuel cost should be calculated as per the current fuel price and distance travelled. Of course there has to be a profit component as a percentage of the sum of investment and fuel cost. Once this uniformity comes into practice, everyone will get benefited (including the vehicle owners, their drivers and the public at large). Asif M Khatri Citizen of India

Why uniform policy is not adopted at all state level? This a question should be address by Surface Transport Ministry at Center & State Transport Commissioner should tackle the issue & find the solution for it in public interest.
