Votes ahead of Peoples Lives

Govt has cut down on pollution related funding by over 50% this budget

The interim budget presented reduced the budget for pollution abatement from Rs 20 crore in the last fiscal to Rs 10 crore for 2019-20.

Shows that votes definitely come ahead of people’s life spans.

This year in Delhi we have had 3 bad months, next year it will be 4, then 6, then all 12.

The problem if its to be handled needed 20000 crores. Lack of willingness and intent. more

My question is, Is they spend 20 Cr last year? Govt should disclose where they spend this money. more
You are absolutely wrong Sri Mishra. People in India are unwilling to follow a clean way of living. We litter our streets, smoke all over the place (even where smoking is prohibited) and waste fossil fuel. People are unwilling to use public transport, walk or cycle. Who is the Government? We are the Government. We persist in polluting the country and blame whoever is in power. That has become the norm for the average 'educated' Indian. Let each of us introspect and ask how big our carbon foot print is. We can then start talking about 'Votes ahead of Peoples Lives'. It seems to be fashion for some people just to be critical of any positive step taken by the present Government. more
Investment on pollution is an investment on the public health of the society and decent living of the citizens. more
The Govt. should not waste tax payers money on pollution control. Instead it must implement the pollution control measures with an iron hand without playing vote bank politics. All political parties should rise to the occasion by fully understanding the ill effects on air/water pollution on the coming generations. more
Why government should spend money when the public is not willing to reduce their fossil fuel consumption, burning of field remains and so on? Public should feel more responsible at least when their life is directly affected by their own misconduct. If these measures are taken by responsible citizen, further reduction in this allocation is possible, which can then be used for better purposes. more
