Unique TDS certificate no in Form 16A

Since the banks and tax deducting authorities are taking their own time to furnish the TDS certificate, despite deducting tax till 31st March in a year, and putting people like us into trouble till mid-June, I will be writing to FM to look into the issue to see if the TDS certificate can be issued in the I week of April itself!. In US the finanacial year ends on 31st March and income tax filing has to be completed by 15th April, which means all deductors have to furnish the required details to the assessees within that period. The long period upto 31st July to file the returns in India results in the deducting authorities in India and all connected agencies to consume too much of assessee's time with the the typical Indian Chalta hai attitude. more

Agreed. Now a days with computerisation it should not be a difficult task more
i TOO AGREE AND WE SHOULD DEFINITELY WRITE TO FM about this menace and get relief. more
It is unfair as we have to pay huge interest ( from 1st April to June/ July) on the final payment of income tax due to delay in TDS certificates. more
Why not certificate be issued every quarter if not every month? more
It is similar problem wheb people change employment. The previous employer has no obligation to provide Form 16 to you before the date of returns but you have an obligation to file returns based on that or produce the same to new employer for correct tax deduction. I think you should start a petition in change.org with such points to reform agendas more
