UK bans all plastic from Apr 2020

If UK can do this, so should India. Imagine UK people are so so used to this stuff because they have been using for 50+ years.

For majority of Indians, a straw is not part of their daily life and hence should be easy to avoid. Modi Govt 2.0 will have to ban at production point. No way municipalities of India can enforce this.

Pls share your thoughts...

Manufacturing all plastic items should be banned. 50 years back there was no plastic packaging in India. We should go back to glass bottles, jute/cotton bags and developing paper packagings (even for liquids). Governments(States and Centre) should give financial incentives for development of new packaging designs using local biodegradable materials like coir, plant leaves, sabai grass etc.. This will also generate employment for rural people. more
Shutting down the industries which produce banned plastic products is the only final solution. At the same time the workers in those industries should be given employment in other fields. Alternative biodegradable products should be encouraged. more
I believe production of plastic must be stopped permanently if we really wanna save our planet. All the plastic producing industry must be either shut down or force them to adopt plastic free production of bags i.e. paper bags, jute or cotton bags. Packed food must be packed in environment friendly and degradable material in order to save environment. Strict law must be enforced including heavy against those who found using plastic including industry who still follow the practice of using and producing plastic even after. India must not export plastic from developed countries, india must ban such exports. more
There are large variety of plastic products. As I understand, all kinds of plastics are not to be banned. Hence, the plastics of specified quality that are to banned must be banned at production level also. The manufacturers should be given adequate time to shift to the production of other products...... more
First we encouraged use of plastics and now we have to ban it. Simply declaring ban has an economic impact too, which needs to be considered. Where will those industries, entrepreneurs and workers go. A complete plan needs to be in place. more
