Surrogate ads by celebrities continue- act please

I remember last year Government claimed that they have banned surrogate ads. I.e advertising elaichi or pan masala instead of gutka.

And here we have shahrukh, akshay and ajay all engaging in surrogate ad for gutka (Attached ad)

Can the Govt please take action?

Also Shahrukh made 1100 crores on jawan. Why in the world he must do pan masala ad for a couple of crores. Beyond me. more

truly said these kind of ads should be banned and it is surprisingly that these actors promote and do not know how far they will go to promote these items. No wonder if their siblings take to these kind of items it is not surprising more
I checked with my lawyer about it. He told me there is no legislation that bans surrogate ads. If enacted, such legislation would run a serious risk of being declared unconstituional as it would run foul of freedom to trade.I do agree with Rohini, Chandan and others that a better option is to use social media and spread consumer awareness. Do remember that all political parties need large sums of money from businesses for electioneering. more
in an open market economy such practices are really not very uncommon. people are crazy to buy a product once it's endorsed by a celebrity. It's in politics now in a big way. Why to blame only manufacturers. Consumer awareness is rather more important to choose the right product instead of getting articulated to any showbiz. Govt. can't intervene in it but surely discipline the manufacturers to ensure quality. more
