Subsidy Culture

Just saw an ad asking people to give up LPG subsidy. While it is OK, we need to look at broader perspective. Why give subsidy of any form to rich and privileged ? Charity begins at home. Our elected reps ( to serve nation) have all kinds of subsidies - food in canteens, accommodation, travel, office facilities, pension, clubs, holiday Homes Etc.
What is the cost of all this ??
Most of the MPs/ MLAs Etc are rich officially. more

Most subsidies are kind of unsustainable as well as unnatural and should be done away with slowly. Subsidies also dishonour/disregard hard work and promote laziness/lobbying/hypocrisy. Instead government should promote opportunities and culture of hard work as well as fair pays, so that no one is in want of freebies. Netas have no business announcing freebies on tax payers money, it is high time for citizens in India to raise this issue. Subsidy is second evil of vote bank politics, fist being reservations. I have given up LPG subsidy voluntarily, but then got bad treatment by the delivery person last month on rendering exact change and refusing "chai paani" money. That sure is not encouraging ... more
How about our netas setting an example by giving up just a few of their privileges? Already there is talk of MPs demanding hikes in their salaries & perks. I am willing to surrender my subsidised LPG if even 1 MP gives up just 1 of his / her perk. Any takers? more
A minimum affordable slab shall be fixed based on the statistical information available say Rs.3,00,000/- per year or Rs.5,00,000/- per year for all subsidies , benefits , concessions and reservations of any nature uniformly removing Cast etc., discriminating preferences. more
There is no second opinion that all subsidy for rich has to be withdrawn but it cannot be the precondition to give up the LPG subsidy. If we can afford the LPG without subsidy it is better we should surrender more
Why only LPG even reservations should be opted out by the stronger sections. This should happen voluntarily .any how when every things are once interlinked its going to be stopped by the Govt itself .as of now they r just collecting data more
