Stop ordering food on apps till
These restaurants ensure they stop packaging in single use plastic.
Friends as a a doctor I can tell you that many of these apps and through them restaurants are taking hot subjis soups halwa and many cooked items and packing them in this plastic. The plastic bags used for packing food are very dangerous as they contain polyethylene, polyvinyl chloride, polystyrene. If a person eats hot food items carried in plastic bags or plastic for a long period, he or she is very likely to get serious health problems.
When hot food is packed in plastic, chemical exchange between plastic and food is maximised by high temperature and the nature of the food. Certain plastic bags may cause chemical filtration into the food. Those chemicals include styrene and bisphenol- A which can cause cancer, heart diseases and reproductive problems.
I request you do not, do not consume any such food and till these swiggys, zomatos dont comply, block them or dont order. more

Dear Dr. Anita Jain, While I appreciate your well intended information/ caution that packaged food should not be ordered on Apps, I feel characterization of all plastics as unsuitable for food storage especially in hot state. Certain Plastics (thermo-sets) withstand very high temperatures and are in fact categorized as `Microwave Suitable'. Certain Plastics are also exclusively categorized as `Food Grade'. As a lay-man, We are certainly not aware whether the food supplier has used suitable plastics or not but Market runs on faith. Market is also subject to regulations and there exist regulatory bodies in every local body. Of course, many among us are sceptical about their performance but this is tantamount to being sceptical about ourselves as the health inspectors are also some among us. I, therefore, feel that instead of scare mongering , it may be better we bring the problem to the notice of officials whenever we are suspicious of the containers. more

I do agree with you. But has it not become a necessary menace for the lifestyle we are living in along with many other health hazardous things we are exposed to more

If every one knows that its creates serious health problem, then Government should Ban directly these plastics rapped food. Hoping the concern looking such things, sabka saath, sabka vikas, & sabka health. more

In Maharashtra there is a ban on plastic bags, but people insist on a plastic bag from vegetable vendors. Just banning is not enough, how much vigilance can the Government have. People should also follow the rules.
