State of Manufacturing – Root Causes
1. Lack of political will to bring in developments
2. Corruption at all levels
3. In a lot of cases, labour unions are influenced by politicians
4. Lack of a single window clearance system
5. Lack of latest technology
6. Raw materials post taxes are expensive
7. Lack of skilled labour at remote places
8. Non-existence of technical schools in places where the industries are setup
9. Government assisted raw material supply is non existent
10. High interest cost for loans
11. No marketing support to the SMEs from the Government
12. The products manufactured in India are not at par with the quality of developed countries
13. Laws and policies have not been revised for a long time
14. Too much time lost in record keeping
15. Lack of insurance available to cover the risk of default by customer on payments
16. CBDT issues the notification at any desired date without looking into the genuine hardship caused to the common men as well as business community
17. Lack of coordination between centre and state
18. Attitude of Taxation Departments, Environment Departments, Police and Industrial Inspectors, and many other local agencies are very negative towards entrepreneurs starting or operating factories
19. Smuggling of a huge number of cheap goods in India
20. The basic infrastructure for manufacturing in not up to the mark
