Standing up for lower petrol diesel excise

*Out of the 73-84 rupees per liter that you pay for petrol, more than half is taxes of which 19 rupees is excise duty. How should the Government rationalise it to provide immediate relief to consumers on petrol and diesel prices?*

Vote and Share this with all your groups and lets get the Govt to give some relief to us consumers: https://bit.ly/govtaction-petroldieselprices more

What will government do if oil price goes to ₹140/lit Any subsidy or tax change will spoil the fiscal deficit. This is no solution. Better optimize consumption, more
Lower the central taxation and the condescending states taxes; the rest of the states will be forced to follow. more
Bring under GST net let the states cooperate more
Bring under GST net and currently reduce the taxes (both state and central) more
That is because the present government is busy lowering the Fiscal Deficit from 11.6% to 4.5% as on date & reducing the huge Loan of 8.5L Crores to the importing nations created by the previous UPA regime due to populist subsidies. (unfortunately what we are all used to). Also of the total tax of Rs. 35/- per litre about Rs.23/- is State Government Tax (Rs.14.50 directly charged by the state government and Rs.9/- being received from the central government for the states exchequer) and the loans are being cleared only with Rs. 12/- which is the Central government's component. We need to start using public transport as much as possible if we are highly conscious of our own household budgets and if Petrol and diesel prices are causing real difficult situations for us. Burning fossil fuel which is a limited resource does not need to be subsidised and more research on alternate energy sources needs higher investment. more
