Some more things to check while purchasing gold jewellery.

1. Check the original logo of jeweller on jewellery otherwise he will deny that jewellery does not relates to him.

2. Always check gross weight of jewellery and net weight of gold has been written in the bill or not. Maximum times jewellers write "NET WEIGHT" instead of "NET WEIGHT OF GOLD" to cheat customers. So if full lines" net weight of gold" is not written do not purchase jewellery. Also weight of diamond/gemtones/ pearl should be written separately from weight of gold.

3. Rates of gold not written by the jeweller instead he writes all time charges n making charges together. So be careful in calculation and insist jeweller to write gold rates as per purity of gold.

4. If hallmark jewellery has purchased then It is mandatory to write hallmarking charges in the bill which are only 35/ rupees only. If jeweller does not write, then do not buy becoz BIS and consumer court will not listen to you even hallmarks are present on jewellery. Jeweller can easily say that bill is for other jewellery which is unhallmark jewellery.

5. Kindly check logo of BIS hallmark on bill. As per policy of BIS, logo of BIS HALLMARK is ILLEGAL to print on the bill whether jewellery is hallmarked or unhallmarked.

6. A BIS certified jeweller can sell unhallmarked jewellery as per rules. So beware about fake hallmarks too. IF you will not check logo of jeweller which is certified by BIS then jeweller will give you fake hallmark jewellery and later can deny that jewellery does not relates to him. He claims that you made replica and come to grab the money.

DO NOT BELIEVE ON CONSUMER COURTS BECOZ AT LEAST 10 YEARS WILL BE WASTED BY YOU OF YOUR LIFE AND MONEY UNLIMITED.

SO BE MORE SMART AT THE TIME OF PURCHASING GOLD JEWELLERY. more

The Jewellers are taking advantage of all type of profit increasing methods. more
Since all Indians invest in gold it is time the Government acted in the consumer's interest to regulate the trade. There should be transparency whether the customer wants to purchase new ornaments or sell old jewellery. The present market conditions are unsatisfactory and many unsuspecting clients are taken for a ride. This is one of the reasons many poor people are still fleeced by pawnbrokers. L.Kalavathi Retd. Some good jewellers I found in Chennai who are putting the photograph of their selling item on the bill itself to avoid any confusion at the time of re sale when you come to sell your Gold etc.A very good initiative which is done by the jeweller who is pure and true to his clients. more
BIS should make it compulsory. more
Informative and valuable information. Thanks indeed. more
According to my experience, no jeweller giving details separately with weight. Simply write gold ring/earing, bangel etc etc. more
You will be suprised to hear that in my case P.P.JEWELLERS , PITAM PURA gave me article worth 40,000/ in 2,50,000/ after discounting it 25%. Can you believe? This is true. more
This is true. But it is in practice due to us only. We do not compel the jeweller to write all details separately becoz lack of knowledge about rules as well as by believing in his words ' 10% kartkar any time wapas le lunga'. In fact he gives Rs. 50/ material in Rs. 100/ if he is sincere and honest.. if not then he gives RS. 30/ material in Rs. 100/. more
