Improving State of Manufacturing – Solutions
1. Effective policies should be created to promote manufacturing
2. Laws for starting a new manufacturing unit should be eased
3. Single window clearance system should be implemented to access all licenses and permissions
4. Entire application process should be computerised and the human involvement should be minimised
5. Turn-Around-Time for each process should be pre-decided
6. ‘Special Manufacturing Zones’ should be created for setting up manufacturing units with lucrative tax breaks
7. Land to set up manufacturing units should be provided at reasonable rates
8. Tax laws should be stabilized and synchronized
9. Corruption in different Government department should be curtailed
10. Teams should be set up to make sure that the grants from the Government are reaching the right people
11. Labour laws should be brought under the Government lens and must be rationalised
12. Irrelevant business laws should be removed/re-written keeping the modern scenario in mind
13. Lines inter-department coordination should be broadened
14. FDI and OEMs should be welcomed and promised effective support
15. Government should work on improving infrastructure with short term deliverables
16. More public and private investments should be made into Research and Development in this sector
17. Subsidised and uninterrupted electricity should be provided to manufacturing units
18. Environment policies should be made keeping the environment as well as well-being of the manufacturing units in mind
19. Political stability would also boost the sentiments of the industry
20. Availability of skilled labourers should be maximized by ensuring skill development

But the day to day issues of the task performers to be understood by the immediate supervisor will make good impact. 3.
