Schools to be closed 9th and 10th January
Per instructions of DM Gautam Shri NP Singh, due to the cold weather, all schools in the district are to remain closed for Classes Nursery to 8 on Jan 9th and Jan 10th.
It seems that the DM's office will have to go on doing this for the next few days... and in fact should have been done today (12th) also, since the temperature is only 3 C now. and the next few days are also going to be cold... but certainly not the coldest which have been faced over thee past few years. Absolutely no problem if anyone has an opinion different from mine, but opinions must also be based on facts and figures, specially when communicated at public forums like this one. People seem to forget that kids of age studying in classes 1st to 8th are far more sturdy than we - grownups. They are active and their activity makes them pretty happy even in cold. But of course, if anyone feels that schools should be stopped when the Minimum temperature (at night 2 AM) is 3 C, though the temperature may have come up to 8-10 C when the schools buses start at say 7:15 AM to 8:00 AM. But please go ahead, feel happy with the declaration of closure of schools.

My dear DM -GBN Kindly do some thing to prevent traffic JAM NOIDA Metro city centre due to erratic parking by Auto-riksha drivers. I hope you may direct NOIDA traffic police to mark dedicated parking space for Auto riksha and pre-assigned route through service lane only at NOIDA Metro city centre. Being a civil engineer from IIT Roorkee, I feel that there can not be a worse intersection than NOIDA metro city centre intersection which is having an underpass, from the point of view of traffic engineering. 2017-01-07 20:01 GMT+05:30 District Magistrate-GBN Office < support@localcirclesmail.com>: >

http://www.accuweather.com/en/in/delhi/202396/hourly-weather-forecast/202396?hour=27 - you seriously want to do this? It is cold in the early morning hours. Administrative action to protect our young ones cannot be stupid at all. Everyone has an opinion - due respect for yours - And mine is based on watching out for those who cannot - so I will applaud the DMs office for taking action.

Sonia ji.... It seems you have not much idea about temperatures... The temperature in Delhi Region, as per TOI report was 5.2 C, on 9/1/2016 which is said to be the coldest so far. Much colder temperature has been experienced in Delhi region... to the extent of 2 C earlier. However, it does not matter to anyone if your children do not go to school. How many days in a year are lost due to decisions of various agencies and governments, by closing schools due to Heat/ cold/ pollution, and what not including odd-even formula. Children must be protected from vagaries of weather, but closing schools is not the solution.... not even a temporary solution. What will happen in other places, where the temperature goes below (-) minus? Like Shimla and other places? Schools would remain closed for half the year...maybe.
