Schools and Uttar Pradesh

The UP Govt has rightfully permitted the opening of schools from Aug 16th for classes 9-12. Yet in the LocalCircle survey below we have a sizable chunk of parents saying they wont send their children to school.

May I ask what is the fear and if you haven’t voted on this do so please.

Yes if 3rd wave is about to come then we should wait for at least 1 more month. But the point is that all of us should think positively and try to find innovative ideas as to how the schools can be reopened. more

While the Govt’s decision to open schools is in good faith but the implementation does not inspire confidence. Authorities have yet to come out with the details of the covid protocol that would be observed in the schools without any exception. What arrangements would be in place to attend emergency i.e. if and when a child developed virus infection. Many school do not have adequate arrangements for drinking water. How the transport arrangements would work in cities where the schools are at far distances from the student’s homes? Will the school buses play and if so with what capacity? It may not be possible for all the parents to send and pick up their children by car. If the students would just be sitting in the class rooms with no other activities, they may not enjoy it and may like to study at home. In some places where school were opened it was reported that students and Teachers had started developing virus infections. The possibility of 3rd wave has not been ruled out and there is no conformed information about its intensity if it strikes. After waiting for over a year for school opening, waiting for another few days would not be that damaging as compared to damage to children’s health. more
