नेता प्रतिपक्ष के लिए सीटों के न्यूनतम प्रतिशत की जरूरत नहीं: लोकसभा सचिवालय
संसद के निचले सदन यानी लोकसभा में विपक्ष का नेता नियुक्त करने के लिए सीटों के न्यूनतम प्रतिशत की जरूरत नहीं है. लोकसभा सचिवालय ने एक आरटीआई के जवाब में ऐसा कहा है. हालांकि, इससे पहले लोकसभा अध्यक्ष सुमित्रा महाजन ने कांग्रेस को नेता प्रतिपक्ष का दर्जा दिए जाने की मांग को खारिज कर दिया था. लेकिन, इस फैसले के दो महीने में आरटीआई से ये जवाब आया है.
मुंबई के आरटीआई कार्यकर्ता अनिल गलगली की अर्जी के जवाब में लोकसभा सचिवालय के अवर सचिव के सोना ने यह जानकारी दी है. उन्होंने कहा, नेता प्रतिपक्ष के चयन के लिए कोई न्यूनतम प्रतिशत का प्रावधान नहीं है. गलगली ने आरटीआई के जरिए यह जानना चाहा था कि नेता प्रतिपक्ष की नियुक्ति के लिए सीटों की अनिवार्य न्यूनतम संख्या क्या होनी चाहिए.
कांग्रेस अध्यक्ष सोनिया गांधी ने 7 जुलाई को लोकसभा अध्यक्ष सुमित्रा महाजन को एक पत्र लिखकर सदन में पार्टी के नेता मलिकार्जुन खड़गे को यह दर्जा देने की मांग की थी. सुमित्रा ने इस पत्र के जवाब में 14 अगस्त को कहा था कि लागू होने वाले प्रावधानों एवं पूर्व की परंपराओं पर विचार करने के बाद उनके अनुरोध को स्वीकार करना संभव नहीं है.

Even if we are in the age of RTI & social media & 24x7 TV news channels, not everything is brought into the public domain. Modi promised to bring back black money stashed by Indians in foreign banks, today toed the line of UPA regime by informing the Supreme Court that it cannot disclose such details. What is wrong in declaring wealth? Declare the details. Let it be investigated later whether it is black or white. Silly excuses being given by Jaitley. more

By denying due space to the opposition the ruling party will harm its own long term interest. Congress did many things, some good some bad; an example of bad thing being denying to the opposition the post of Leader Of Opposition, by advancing its own reasoning. Congress could get away with all this as it was a different era. Now in the age of RTI & social media & 24x7 TV news channels, where every thing is brought into the public domain, and dissected threadbare the Congress precedents will not do, especially as the present govt seems to be on alteration & modification spree! So why such selective conservatism, and solidarity with the Congress view point when it comes to the post of Leader of Opposition? more
