Resource Wastage in Indian Railways - Inputs Needed
Dear Railways Circle Members:
With over 75,000 citizens in our circle we probably have cross country representation now.
In your train travels, you may have observed wastage/under utilization of resources (people, systems, power, water, food, supplies, processes and many other areas) occurring in trains, at stations, railway reservation counters and offices.
We request you to reflect and think and share those with us. We want as many inputs as possible so the key areas where wastage is occurring can be recognized and corrective action taken to realize cost savings.
We look forward to your inputs!

Most of the water taps in train compartment and in station platform are leaking. Such tap leaking should be periodically monitored and such defective taps are to be replaced immediately. We can conserve water in this way.

The biggest resource wastage that we find on any train is water. The tap and flush design is the main reason and these need improvement to stop this wastage. In some premium trains we find better design but somehow these are not implemented for other trains.

I think this is very high may be unimaginable. Starting from manpower accountability to lying resources at different stations, if utilised properly will make IR amongst one of the best service provider along with high %age of revenues

As mentioned or pointed by most of the other members , we have seen that Water pipes at the railway stations are all leaking. Some of the taps are not closed by the Railway staff. When complained to one of the staff member , he mentioned that the pipe water would stop by itself and i could see water draining out in full force for almost 1/2 hr.
