MRP and legal metrology teams, why are you inactive on this all important issue. Why are legal metrology inspectors not issuing warrants if any chemist or hospital is selling this medicine more than 5400 Rupees which is the MRP. more

Remdesevir Black-marketeering
Will like to bring a first-hand experience today for the authorities to take note of. Our relative is admitted in a top leading hospital of Delhi being treated for COVID19. We were told earlier that he has been administered Remdesevir dosages a couple of days back. Today we got a call from the hospital saying that it is in short supply and not available in the hospital and if we could arrange 2 doses of it as they are required for our patient. We immediately swung into action and came to know that two chemists South Delhi Pharma and Impact India are authorised to sell the same at prescribed MRP of Rs.4,500 once supporting documentation of patient Aadhar Card, COVID report and Hospital prescription requested are provided. Unfortunately, neither of them did not have in stock. We were told by some chemists that this is being black-marketed and everyday the rate is different. It started from 15,000, yesterday was 27,000 and today we were offered at 35,000. On multiple negotiations 2 chemists agreed to provide for 30,000 per dose and arrange in a couple of hours if we agreed to price. They said invoice cannot be provided for obvious reasons but it shall be genuine. When we said that to confirm genuinity of the medicine we should at least be provided invoice of MRP value with cross-referencing of batch number, the chemist agreed to it. Strict loopholes need to be plugged by the government as this seems to be a big cartel. As a terrified relative, I feel this post might make the medicine available scarcely or if the government acts swiftly, it might make the medicine available promptly to those who need it genuinely, not only in Delhi but all across the country.

Harsimran, not sure if legal metrology still has a role in medicines. Double check. I think their jursidiction is limited to medical devices. Very confusing. more
Fear of God and Society only can control cheating. But the delayed justice has caused fearlessness in people. They know by the time they are caught and punished it will be too late. more
