Practical Hands on Ways to avoiding sweets
My father is 65, diabetic and he just has the toughest time avoiding sweets. He can have them for breakfast, lunch, dinner and twice in between. Can folks who are diabetic and have developed good control share how you have done it. Do you follow certain routine, eat certain things so the urge to eat sweet items is less. Telling him to self control only works to a point and after that its meaning less.
All diabetes patients need to balance their diet by restricting their food intake calculated by the calorie value of the food and the nutrition value of what they are eating to provide necessary vitamins, minerals etc. Just having carbohydrates will give necessary calorie value but without any nutritional value. Please ask your father to consider this.

Hi Vinita, I can empathise but the truth is self control is the only solution that has lasting effect. Now he should be motivated enough for that and to achieve this he needs family's support. You must be the best judge of your family dynamics but meanwhile I can suggest some remedies. Take a tea spoonful of jamun powder, easily available at khadi ashrams,Ayurvedic medicine shops or natural products outlets, with warm water. You can also give him half a teaspoon of powdered methi seeds. This too is very common and can be grounded at home. Both these known to lower blood sugar level.are

Madam, Its not any routine or special things to eat but a self control only. He can try to follow a routine made by him only. This should be implemented sequentially not at once. Gradually down the frequency and size of serving. regards On Fri, Jan 24, 2014 at 5:32 PM, Vinita Agrawal < support@localcirclesmail.com> wrote: >

I am 64 and When I had acid reflux problem I tried to find the cause and I found we eating lot of Bikaneri Bhujias , mathris, achaar, biscuits, mixtures i.e. fried and oily things so we stopped buying all fast foods , colas, juices, and stopped making it at home also, no paranthas, no patties, no burger, no pizzas, no oil in phulkas and finally one teaspoon oil for vegetables, and started on cow's milk, dry toast, "jau water", anaar juice and I was able to cure both acid reflux and reduce cholestrol from 271 to 212 in one month so I am still continuing. So I will suggest stop buying sweets, stop making sweets, distribute what ever sweet gifts are given by freinds, do not keep in home for a minute, take okra water, take fengreek powder, take medicines regularly.
