Posters and Wall Stains/Writing - How to address

Many of you in your inputs have raised the menace of posters (political or business promotion) on walls in your city. Some of you have raised the issue of wall stains/writing being a common sight.
With this post, we seek your inputs on how active citizens and the civic bodies can play a role in addressing this.
We will put together a practical checklist base don your inputs which will be circulated to all members, and the 4000 urban local bodies.

Political posters and banners, posters of social functions of individuals like marriage, birthday, etc, display be digital banners of political leaders during their visit to area, or their birthday, or even exposing the partymen faithfulness to the leader are all nonsense and annoying and mar the city. They even cause fatal accidents during the period of monsoon, and heavy winds. There should be total ban for erecting small or big or very big digital banners on the public areas and if it is done at private area, the own of the land takes the responsibility. Pasting of posters on public buildings/compound walls as well on private properties without permission should be banned and private individuals should be allowed to sue such printers who print them. more

Posters are the worst which make city dirty. There should be way by which the poster owner should be fine. From the content the owner can be find or it must be made magnatory on the poster to include responsible peroson,s address so that if not remove police can fine them more

Poster menace is biggest one which disfigures the appearance of the town/city which could otherwise be a little better than now. Both Political parties, Party affiliated persons, and business community(firms, shops, etc) affix posters on any surface that is available and reachable. Even if any body stands on the road side for some talking with his friend engrossed, one need not be surprised to see some poster pasted on them. Apart from this, political parties, Political leaders, their supporters cause Banner menace, by erecting very big digital banners for any and each occasions, to the annoyance of the public as well as to the inconvenience of traffic/pedestrians. The Cinema Posters causes distraction to the vehicle drivers and resulting in accidents. If these are prevented by central law and allowed (under payment of fees)to paste posters at municipality/corporation permitted areas/ adv.boards, and also allowing them to erect only in specified areas the local bodies could generate considerable funds to them. Such methods were in force in Former Madras State, which has become defunct some decades after independence. more

The Police can be directed to ensure that the writing on walls and posters & hoarding in their police station areas are removed by persons responsible for these. Police people shall do this periodically. more
