Pollution preventing plants

Hi members
NOx, SOx and Particulate Matter absorbing plants available in the market. Why can’t we go for plantation of such useful plants? I am unable to quantify the amount of reduction in air pollution. Any one having suggestions? more

You need 15 plants per person in the room to replace the CO2 into Oxygen and is not a practical solution. Plants cannot remove pm2.5 particles. I have vested interest and am a Corporate partner for Blueair, Honeywell & Sharp ( www.orientalgroup.co.in ) & Air quality monitors of Laser Egg more
Dear Deepak ji
Suggested plants are not indoor plants.
A massive canopy type of specific species can absorb NOx and Sox.
For PM 2.5 there are some species those having large leaves with waxy surfaces will absorb PM.

Plants such as spider plant, snake plant, etc. can be used to purify the indoor air but their contribution to reduce the overall pollution would be very small. As an example, snake plant (or mother-in-laws tongue plant) is a unique plant which generates oxygen in the night but you require about 6 plants per person just for the sleeping area. Large plantation of local tree varieties such as neem will have a bigger impact. Government agencies are bigger culprits when they cut tree indiscriminately for their 'development' work without replacing the damage done by them. See the following table: Sources Of PM 2.5 Pollution In Delhi, 2016-17 Sources Of Pollution Winters Summers Delhi Itself 36% 26% NCR Except Delhi 34% 24% Upwind Region Outside NCR 17% 17% Upwind Region Outside India 13% 33% Source: The Energy And Resource Institute NCR can only control 30% plus pollution by ensuring use of gas in place of stoves, no wood fire for cooking, stop coal fired power plants, reduce diesel vehicles to the bare minimum (zero private diesel vehicles, strictly penalize polluting vehicles including government vehicles), ban diesel generators except for hospitals or similar essential services, automated vehicles for cleaning the dust on the roads, strict control of construction dust, etc. Upwind regions outside NCR are mainly crop burning etc. in Punjab and Haryana. A major emergency effort is required by the political powers but this is all wishful thinking! more
But at least we can force our govts to be more considerate towards trees and ensure no trees are cut on the name of growth and as far as possible more trees are planted in the area! Whatever difference it makes, its worth it sir in such desperate situations. more
Thanks for pointing out that Delhi + rest of NCR generate 70% of the pollution. However, growing pollution controlling plants, though a good option, will make a small contribution; the major pollution sources are beyond the direct control of citizens unless they get together in a large and sustained peaceful protest to force the control of pollution sources. more
Region outside NCR can ONLY control 17% pollution.

We must do as much as possible in house ie Delhi + NCR that are source for 70 % of the pollution here. 13% from outside India is beyond us anyway. more
This is a special request to the respected chairman Sri s.p.singh parihar more
Private hospitals are burning biological and hospital wastes in their incinerators in our city of Bangalore. This is causing cancer to our children.request central pollution control authorities to act immediately. Hope they will do that respecting the recent directions given by honourable court. more
Great idea! Very helpful for reduction of indoor pollution. We have great ideas for reduction of pollution in cars. If interested do connect. more
