PM Inaccessible to his Ministers?

Latest issue of India Today has reported that due to excessive control by the PMO, the ministers avoid deciding anything, without knowing the view of PMO on a given issue. They do not want a proposal to be rejected on the file as that would be embarrassing to the Minister. It seems that one senior minister is unable to forward a proposal to PMO, as his departmental secretary is unable to get feedback as to what might be PMO's view.

It seems that NDA government is inching towards the way UPA government worked - propose only what the boss likes. This is not in the best interest of good governance promised by NDA. I think, the PM should be more accessible to the ministers, granting that all of them might not be as competent as bureaucrats, who have spent decades working under the government. more

Why the ministers try to foresee the PMs likes or dislikes. One is supposed to do a particular job, expect him to do it.Willful inaction in apprehension of likes or dislikes is bad more
You are correct . Single leader with vision is required. But too much dependence on PM is not good for the country. Further, individual ministry should take decision according to the particular issue. But pl. do not compare with the previous government. One thing is sure some changes are happening. more
We have been so much accustomed to politically run governments of the past, that such changes are not palatable who have no knowledge of management science effectively used to run country or organisation resources productively! Secondly all such writings are just out of speculations and lack of understanding and knowledge as media are generally found to be kept away from the working of the government. Only results are available on respective web sites. The writer must have basis understanding that the top- head of family,boss/leader/CEO etc- be it organisation, family, ship or a plane is finally responsible for all the decisions taken when management of affairs is done by deligation. And so boss always is kept informed and his advice and guidance is sought for better results and decisions. In the process it takes time which need to be given to complete process. The writer should personally go in the PIB and check for dertails as howmany files are cleared and any of his questions to find out the decision making process instead of reading some press clip and sitting in his A/C cabin. It is better if all of us decide to do opur work and stop adviseing others including PM on the matter for which they are responsible. It is better to make constructive criticism suggesting whay you would have done if you were the PM of this country. Our school essay writing in line with- If I were a Bird" Please do not misunderstand but it is natural human behavious and we forget our work and give free advise to others! more
we dont want a policy paralysis.god help us.. more
Donot compare the NDA way with UPA way. What Modi want is that his ministers review and know details of the proposals and brain storm of any other alternatives before forwarding it to PMO. earlier ministers were just working as post offices for receiving stamping and delivering to the next office. now more involvement and accountability is happening in the part of beurocrats and ministers. good show. more
