No more import of solid plastic waste

The Ministry of Environment has amended Hazardous and Other Wastes (Management and Transboundary Movement) Rules, 2016 to include prohibition on import of solid plastic waste even in special economic zones (SEZ) and by export-oriented units (EOU).

glad to see this suggestion of mine being accepted. We should discuss other areas where dumping is happening leading to waste generation, pollution, etc. more

Report of Swachhta Abhiyan has been published.Mumbai is very much far behind many other cities.Probably BMC is not taking this competion seriously.Our political bosses in BMC should look in to this and work seriously so as to improve the rating. more  
Urban Solid waste treatment in Indian Municipalities has to be done in an effective manner in letter and spirit then only all possible consequences can be avoided. Major negligence is being noticed in Biological waste disposal by Big/ Small Hospitals is common in India. One should look seriously in all these matters also. more

Thank you very much for the work Sudhesh Rai . It will motivate many of us to replicate in other parts of India and particularly for the official as well as clandestine Imports china for plastic toys , electronic , Crackers , to save indigenous small manufacturers. Also kindly go through a similar initiative reported . more  
We never knew that the GOI was permitting all such trash being imported like the ASBESTOS junk of SHIP WRECKS. Bettr late than never more
