"My appeal- Lets dispense with web check-in facility till the Airline withdraw the fee."

Reference to the latest move of Indigo Airlines to charge fee for web check-in. Since charging of even a single paisa for web check in facility is totally an unethical business practices as such features should get implemented with offers of discounts.

Cant we consumers unite together and compel Indigo to withdraw such unethical fee. Lets decide we will go to Airport, stand in queue which otherwise is also required to drop in the baggage, get boarding pass issue for whatever the seat available without any preference. I have reason to believe that Indigo would be compelled to withdraw the proposed charges/ fee for web check-in as the manual process would put pressure on the Indigo resources in terms of the manpower as well as additional cost and may be the Airlines would loose its efficiency of time management.

What Shri S.K. Virmani has posted in the message is an alert for the consumers and a notice for the airlines, Indigo, against the unethical charge. The petition deserve support of the fliers and seek the boycott while at the same time it appeals the airlines to withdraw such unethical practices. Also, it is an appeal to the Regulator to look into the petition and eliminate all such unethical charges from the air travel costs. more
Web check in helps the airlines as much as the passengers. We should not support this at all. more
Agreed, it’s loot more
As mr VIRMANI says, all consumers should take a stand not to prefer seats. When we travel days together at the allotted seats in TRAINS, why this desire to get seats of preferences for a few hours travel more
@ Shri Gopabandhu Mohapatra, Sir I feel Govt may not be able to intervene as it is the pricing issue which as per policy is under forbearance. In my view only the market forces can compel to withdraw from unethical business practices. The market forces could be mainly by the competitors and the consumers themselves. The competitors alwayz make cartelization and the best example is that of petroleum industry. Unless and until we cannot react to the unfair practices in the beginning all other industry would follow the practice soon. In fact we should have protested when the industry started charging transaction fee for online transactions or the banks started charging for online payment transfers and ATM withdrawals. I also agree that higher income group is least bothered but their silence affects middle income and poor consumers. The fact is that the majority of the exploited consumers are only middle income and poor consumers. more
