Mr.Raghuram Rajan Should stay as RBI Governor
Dr. Subramaniyam Swamy is reported to have written a letter to Prime Minister that Mr. Raghuram Rajan should not be given another term as Governor of Reserve Bank of India.
Dr. Swamy is known for using sharp language against those whom he dislikes for whatever reasons and he appears to enjoy the media space that he gets in the process. With the BJP government nominating him as member of parliament, he now seems to think that his word should be the last in any matter.
His criticism of Mr. Raghuram Rajan and his sarcastic remark that he should go to Chicago is in extremely bad taste. There may be difference of opinion about raising the interest rate or lowering the interest rate by Reserve Bank of India and one’s stand can be justified depending on one’s perspective.
What is required is that if BJP government disagrees with Mr. Rajan, it should discuss the issue with him in a healthy and matured way.
Since Dr. Swamy is a BJP nominee in Rajya Sabha , he tends to be giving an impression that he is echoing the view of BJP government, which may not be so. It is very important that Mr. Modi should protect his image by clearly stating that Dr. Swamy’s view on Mr. Rajan is not the view of the government. The silence on the part of Mr. Modi will only embolden Dr. Swamy to say even something more obnoxious about Mr. Rajan.
It is certainly true that Mr. Rajan has brought a new image and culture to the leadership of Reserve Bank of India which is refreshing. Considering his position and his international reputation , he cannot bandy words with the politicians.
It is necessary that Mr. Modi should step in and reassure Mr. Rajan and distance himself from Dr. Swamy’s remarks.
Mr. Rajan will not lose personally if he would not be given second term but it would be a great loss for India .Mr. Modi inevitably would be criticized for sacrificing a talented financial expert due to political pressure from some loud mouthed BJP members ,if Mr. Rajan would be forced to go

I request all the respected sirs in this circle that We in Bharat have Sri Madh Bagavatham and Ramayanam as the guiding Epics for our Dharma, Way of life to leave a civilized world to our own children, following the Karma Yogi way of life. Arabs invasion, forced conversion, then East India Co., Inc converted the Dharma based our way of life using Carrot & Stick policy; like government jobs for the converts, for Pay & pension. Education and health care became the monopoly for the conversion. That erased our rich cultural heritage based on VIRTUES, we became confused. Cowards became policemen and all services mind were converted in to Employment opportunity. MMS, Aluvwalia, former NAC Chairperson and through such world bank influenced our economy to the detriment of our people. This is a part of Global Empire Madness. THE POLICIES OF MR RAGHRAM RAJAN IS FULLY NFLUENCED BY AMERICA & WESTERN COUNTRIES .THATIS WHY IT IS BADLY EFFECTING TO OUR ECONOMY.MR.RAJAN & MR JETLY MUST UNDERSTAND THAT THEIR IS LOT OF DIFFERENCE IN CONDITIONS BETWEEN INDIA & AMERICA.AMERICAN POLICIES CAN NOT BE SUCCESSFUL & IMPLEMENTED IN INDIA WHICH IS TRYING TO IMPLEMENT BY HIM.MR. MANMOHAN SINGH ALSO COPIED THE SAME AMERICAN POLICIES & GOT FAILED. Absolutely agree with Mr.Venkataraman. Subramanian Swamy is the "stormy petrel of Indian politics", a loose cannon who can be used to test public opinion, which is what I think the BJP is trying to do. That is why it is imperative that all right-thinking Indians rally around Mr. Rajan just now. Mr. Swamy questions Mr. Rajan for "not being sufficiently Indian". Is that a necessary qualification for being RBI Governor.......the Bank of England (which appointed Mark Carney, a Canadian, certainly doesn't seem to think so...) And who will certify Mr. Rajan's Indian-ness.......Mr. Swamy?! If you judge by their respective contribution to the Indian economy, I would count Mr. Rajan (even if he is living in Chicago) as more Indian than Mr. Swamy any day. Listing his contributions would take a lot of space, but questioning Mr. Swamy's credibility does not take much space......his sole contribution to Indian public life has been to go after big leaders......he just chose the wrong one this time, to seek some cheap publicity for himself!!! more

I fully agree with u Mr Venkatraman. One of the best thing which BJP did after coming to power was retaining Mr Raghuram Rajan as governor of RBI. Thanks to Mr Jetley, despite his own preference for reduction of interest ,he never even once pressed for the same on RBI. Dr Rajan played a greater roll in making India to aim for sustained GDP growth and did not allow Govt to go in for unsustainable growth like Brazil and China. Subramanium has no right or i must say capability to pass on judgement on economists like Rajan. He is being stupid and hopefully govt simply ignores his stupid idea. more
