MOTOR VEHICLES RULES

From today the motor vehicles rules are to be implemented in every State. While the motive behind stricter rules are commendable and may be necessary, there are some concerns as follows;
1. What are the safeguards against misuse of these fining provisions? And any harassment by traffic police?..
2. For a genuine person who may sometimes make a mistake, such as forgetting to carry his licence on any particular day and if such a person is caught, what happens?. The fine proposed is hefty and many may not be able to afford it and even if one is made to shell out the fine, it may be a drain on his resources.
3. Only a few rules are mentioned by the press. There has been no advertisement by RTO to create awareness among the general public.
4. Common public can be made to pay the fine. But what about gross offenders such as Public buses, auto drivers, tour operators, Official vehicles. For eg. can cops detain unruly youngster/s on bike?.
5. The fine is for offences such as not wearing helmets, not wearing seat belts, drunken driving, not carrying a valid licence and registration papers, etc. They are necessary. But what about bad roads, pot holes and craters which cause majority of accidents?. more

What about bad roads,poor street lightings,non removal of kacharas?Which Govt personnel will be held responsible and what punishment will be awarded to him? more
The only remedy is to keep active in keeping the documents necessary and follow the rules. As a Citizen we may demand that the Government should also introduce bills to penalize the Government staff for not keeping the roads in order and also the Road Transport Organisations to make the Public aware of what you should do and not to do like wrong Number Plates. Filming of G;ass of the Vehicle and using un authorized Horns and Head lights etc. more
SC Judgment of punishments to Govt Staff indulging in offences on Duty SHALL BE REGULATED UNDER A LAW. more
Adequate publicity of the new rules must be given. Meanwhile, the members of the public as well as the cops controlling the vehicular traffic need adequate lessons & training on the issue. It is observed that the traffic police themselves are not well conversant with the respective rules nor they are inclined to apart with rules with the members of the public. There has been a tendency among the cops to disobey the rules. In such cases there should have been stricter provisions of punishment for the police personnel found guilty of breaking traffic laws & rules. Provisions should have also been made for stricter action against the local bodies responsible for providing smooth and safe roads making them responsible for payment of hefty compensasion for accidents occur due to improper upkeep of roads causing such accidents resulting in of loss of life and critical injuries. more
Wide awareness and prompt follow only will get the Benefits more
I can only say that "Traffic Police Walon Ki Chandi". They will much richer than the Local Police. more
Roads will not become safer due to this law change. It will only increase corruption benefiting police and RTOs. more
