Mohalla Clinics in Delhi

A four-tier system which will have mohalla clinics, multi speciality clinics (polyclinic), multi speciality hospital (earlier called secondary level hospitals) and super speciality hospitals (earlier called tertiary level hospitals) is being formed.

Through this system, the government aims to improve the patient care system with better coordination between hospitals and clinics.
The five regions of the Capital – north, central, west, east and south – will be headed by one director of health services, who will be reporting to the director general of health services (DGHS) — a new post created to coordinate with multiple units.
The DGHS will also be the technical adviser to the government of public health and health services. The government will create the infrastructure of all the regional DHS at the earliest. The offices will be functional with effect from August 14.

The Delhi government has developed a four-tier health system which will have mohalla clinics, multi speciality clinics, multi speciality hospitals and super speciality hospitals

Now a designated director will be there for all five zones in Delhi. This will improve the coordination between hospitals and clinics.

In order to streamline the functioning of various health facilities under the state government and to supervise and monitor the operations and management of the existing health facilities, the department of health and family welfare is being reconstructed. It will also monitor the new infrastructure as well as the implementation of various health programs of the department and will meet the needs of a modern healthcare organisational setup.

According to the plan, hospitals and clinics can refer to each other in the four-tier system. 500 such clinics will be built this year and another 500 before the next financial year. These clinics are air-conditioned to give a private hospital-like atmosphere. The poor will be given services for free. more

This has reference to Mr. Vinod Sahu - suggesting to improve existing health centers. Any thing to give some thing better in reasonable time and cost is a well come step. But personally I do agree to use the old infrastructure - no problem, but to use the very those staff I have lot of reservation. Once you develop not to do your duty - than you can not improve your self - to give 100%. We want public servants - 100% not 95%. Remember old and depleted house is no problem, but people living in are more important. We gave them chance - but failed. So we can not take risk once again. more
I have been saying the same thing as said by Mr. Vinod Sahani; the Delhi Goct needs to update their clinics and use the private sector infrastructure to increase their coverage.... more
There are doctors who were in service or doing private practice for years, they are reasonably well off and own a place in Delhi.Money is not a criteria after a certain stage and if one has been doing practice as a family doctor for 30-40 years, same premises can be used to make Mohalla clinics as practice is allowed in residential areas. So many labs would like to be associated after charging some money for the lab tests.Delhi Govt. need not spend on premises,on public relations as doctor is known in the area and now due to fear of attachment with govt. will be more conscious of reputation provided some security(not a gun man for God sake!) is given to family doctor @ prestige of being doing a good job for aam junta after charging at par with Gurudwaras? Arya Samaj Mandir etc. as There are No free Lunches and we mean business, not free Charity, because same junta who comes to work in posh colonies goes to quacks in their slums. Govt. has initiated Jan Aushadhi scheme too through these outlets Govt. intends to sell Made in India Medicines at cheaper rates. Mohalla clinics can be attached with Jan Aushadhi outlets too.Doctors cannot dispense medicines even under their supervision,it has to be a qualified Pharmacist to look after Jan Aushadhi outlets too. There is no dearth of social workers who would like to be counselors for basics-hygiene,vaccination,family planning ,diet, lifestyle modifications etc... more
THERE ARE ALREADY MORE THAN 250 PRIMARY HEALTH CENTERS BEING RUN BY DELHI GOVERNMENT. THEY ARE IN VERY BAD STATE AND NEED SERIOUS EFFORTS TO EQUIP THEM WITH MEDICINES AND SERVICE MINDED DOCTORS AND PARA MEDICAL STAFF. THEY HAVE FLEETS OF AMBULANCES AND MOBILE VANS ALSO, WHICH NOT BEING USED FOR ANY MEDICAL USE. IT WILL BE BETTER TO IMPROVE WORKING OF THESE CENTERS, THAN TO ADD FURTHER BURDEN ON THE FUNDS AND ADD MORE COMPLEXITY. more
