Making Medical Consumables and Medicines affordable

All medical products and medicines should have a upper limit on trade margin of 40-60% to minimise cost for consumer so profiteering reduces.

Sharing a basic IV Set example where the Ex Factory price varies 3.50-9.50₹ plus 12% GST and curently the MRP varies Between 35-105 ₹!

By the proposed formula the highest MRP would b 42.50₹.a reduction of over 60%.

Capped devices like stents, replacement knee should be kept outside such category and enjoy the caps established by Govt.

The costs will drop as soon as the demand for the same dips. Hence our focus needs to be more on the health of the nation, than what masquerades today as "health care". If we can spend some time on improving the overall health of the citizens, then pharma companies will be trying to woo the patients with better medicines at lower cost, which is the exact opposite of the situation today. Too many calls for legislation puts more power in the hands of the legislatures and parliament, which are dominated by unscrupulous elements. And more legal issues means more prominence to law enforcement and administration, which is highly corrupt in many ways. more
