Making Delhi better
My appeal to Rohit Dalmia : this is a public forum for making Delhi better. I respect your right to support AAP and to criticize BJP, but please use this forum for what it is : making Delhi better. Please post your eulogies of AAP and criticism of BJP as much as you want, but don't waste everyone's time on this forum. If you have constructive suggestions to give please do that. I for one believe that our loyalty should be to India and not to any political party.
My suggestions on governance to Mr.Kejriwal : 1) Many of Delhi's problems are attributable to the character (or lack of it) among Delhi-ites. Do not shy away from holding citizens also accountable. Delhi-ites show little respect for law & order and for fellow citizens' rights. It is time to act tough on such people. 2) Water : Free water is bad idea, people tend to waste anything they get free. Water is a precious resource and is globally recognized as a crisis issue of the future. Please act tough on those who waste water, not merely thru' tariff but also punitive action. You must be knowing of many Delhi-ites in every colony use hoses to spray wash cars every day. We can save thousands of crores of rupees if you can put an end to the practice of people installing motors to pull water directly from DJB lines, if DJB delivers assured water at right pressure one wouldn't need any motors except in high-rises where too water should be boosted up from underground tanks. So that shluld be the focus rather than subsidy. 3) Subsidy on electricity: A bad idea again. I support you in subjecting discoms to CAG audit, let the tariff be reduced after that. That will be your performance, and not subsidies. Quality of power supply is still very bad compared to Mumbai & Gujarat, so discoms shouldn't be granted tariff increase if they fail to meet prescribed service levels. My suggestions 2 & 3 above will also help reduce pollution which is crying need for Delhi. 4) Improve working of MCDs: they need to adopt a fair & helpful approach rather than intimidation. By all means they should go after major violators but not harass general public.
5) AAP government should take a pledge to follow only sustainable economic policy: you shouldn't offer any subsidies unless you achieve an increase in state's revenues by at least 3 times the subsidy amount.
I shall support you in everything that brings about improvements in Delhi by better governance and by making Delhi-ites more responsible citizens. more

I believe AAP have clarified that consumption of water beyond 20 kl per month will be fully charged. So where is the incentive for wastage? In fact there is a huge incentives for conservation and staying within 20kl Limit to avoid being charged. As for electricity, the subsidy is only till the audit is completed. Thereafter the fair tariff will come into play- based on results of audit. It is good that AAP have given subsidy for upto 400 units consumption. This way AAP have put themselves under pressure which should potentially help AAP in delivery of their promise. As above, I see absolutely nothing wrong in the subsidies as announced. more

I agree totally. Delhi people doesn't respect law and discipline. Tough actions are the need of hour today. Wrong means wrong...illegal is always remain illegal. ..unauthorised cannot become authorised. more

surprisingly mr tayal has said hell of a time about responsible citizen but i am wonder are we really responsible enough spiting on road nvr respect trafic rules no patience for parking nvr involve in community work nvr attend association meetings and nvr abide law specially so mr tayal i believe we need to be enforced through enforcement n values simultaneously more

I too agree with the views expressed ,there will be no use of keeping on criticizing other political parties.What can we get through AAP for betterment of Delhi,that only matters. more

Well said Mr Tayal and also Mr Kuldeep. Until and unless AAP govt dies not act tough after giving all the subsidies promised (which is essential since promised in election manifesto) temporarily for a gixed period they must act tough and implement all rules and regulations in all sphere of life, whether it is traffic, water , electricity, parking, Roads, pavements , encroachments by small vendors of pavements, roads etc even unauthorised construction, MCD and Police specially. Some mechanism has to be found to deal with MCD and POLICE indirectly since they do not fall under Delhi Govt . Once they are disciplined then most of the social problems are automatically solved. more
