Lowering GST and other charges on Electric Vehicles won’t create demand for EVs.There is just no infrastructure. People won’t change preferences like that plus EVs aren’t cheap. more
India is a very versatile country, customer know's how to make their own methods, attended Kumbh Mela and had interacted with few electric rickshaw operators at Varanasi, regarding charging of these electric veh batteries, most of them are imported from China, these operators carry extra locally made battery fully charged and just simple switch the batteries, when they get drained off. such a simple methods are adopted by Indian's trully JUGGAD more
We should not expect EVs at motorbikes' price... Infrastructure will come up on pro rata basis..change of preference is need of the hour.. I play my role, you play yours.. together we achieve.... Very typical of our country. Formulate Rules/Law on paper and make no proper preparation for their implementation. Like, e.g. the SC ordering the Delhi govt. to mend all road-pits in the whole of Delhi within a week. Or, ordering demolition of all illegal constructions within two weeks.....and etc. etc. We'll probably experience a similar situation with the EVs. Suddenly, they'll be there in the market, people won't buy because of the cost factor, then the prices shall be brought down to clear the stocks........(reduction in GST by the way will play a minor role). Bottleneck would be providing the battery re-charging stations.... Prices of EVs are given, but where's the cost-analysis for the re-charge-stations? Transitions should be always slow. It won't help anyone to shift over from cars run by follis fuels to electric vehicles within a few months...... more
I agree. First and foremost, there have to be charging stations, on the lines of petrol stations everywhere. Secondly, the time taken for full charge presently is about 3-4 hours. If it is reduced to say about 5-10 minutes, it will be a great achievement. Charging stations can tap solar energy to generate power. more
