Government should take severe action and punish the individuals using the vacant plots as their open toilets. Punishment should be so severe to the extent of ceasing their dwellings, suspending electrical supply, drinking water connection etc. Moreover, persons spitting in public places, from the running trains, buses etc should be imprisoned for not less than 3 years.Such severe ppunishments are needed to have clean India. more

1. Instil in every listener that cleanliness is his/her pride and basic requirement. Swachh Bharat is our responsibility. It is only poverty of action that ends up in dirty roads. Keep city clean week should be celebrated when the whole nation runs campaigns, adverts, talk shows, music and songs, requests by popular personalities, - on Swachh Bharat only. Debates and talk shows on the link between cleanliness and health has to be conducted to establish that fact. Door to door campaigns, village melas shall be organized with this cleanliness issue as the priority. more

Behaviour change is the key element. Messages may be sent to all offices, schools, colleges for passing on to staff, students, teacher through seminars, workshops. Key element -pride in cleanliness, also shame otherwise. Religious congregation s are also important for a for dissemination of the message. Let area adoption for cleaning be a plank. more

Sustained campaign to educate public should be taken up. Even educated citizens are indulging in making the roads dirty. Advertising leaflets are ending up on roads. This is to be curbed by making printer or advertising firm responsible when their leaflet is found on the roads. This will help in preserving forests also as paper usage will be reduced. more

Swachh Bharat Mission per se is a great attempt by the Government which was long over due for our country. As India has huge population any mission to succeed an active participation of citizen in any effort is needed. Especially clean india. Even if you make available toilet for public, still some of them prefer to do in open. Spitting still continues though they know that it looks odd. Throwing of garbage in public and not even putting in the waste bin provided by Municipality still continues. These are all live example which we encounter every day in our surroundings. Especially at least by me at chennai. A change of mindset is needed and it has to be imbibed in to them very strongly but slowly and steadily. A constant campaign by the Government through advertisement, celebrities taking part and door to door campaign etc would provide the momentum. Starting of any scheme is easier than to sustain that and the time has come for sustaining this campaign by which India can also become cleaner more
