Inputs Sought: Spitting by Auto/Rikshaw drivers
It has been reported by some of you that many auto and rikshaw pullers and drivers of trucks/buses tend to spit on roads.
With this post, we would like to seek specific solution inputs that can be implemented to address this menace.
Thanks to each one of you for your ideas and committment to Swachh Bharat. All Pan galla walas should be forced to have spittoons and have them clean them on regular basis. spittoons should also be kept at various locations and people be made to use them. Heavy fines should be enforced strictly for spitting anywhere.

Most of the people have written about Pan, Gutka and Khaini are responsible for that and heavy fine must be imposed. I live in Ranchi, Jharkhand where municipal workers are cleaning streets but beside this small lanes and drains are not being cleaned. This is due to plastics, paper plates, polythene and fruits spills and other garbage are lying on streets. It is worst to look and people can not prevent themselves without spitting. This comes automatically. The whole society must think for this. It will lead to different diseases. An extra effort for this will lead to clean Ranchi. Fine must be imposed heavily so no person should dare to do it. The authorities must ensure that if any function is done in any house/buildings/hotels etc., the garbage should not be dumped on streets/lanes. This is the usual practice in our society. It must be stopped with heavy fines and iron hands.

This is a menace in itself. .looks a huge challenge. ..can buses, trucks have spitoons inside the bus near their seat so that they can spit and remove it when they stop somewhere they stop.

Also all Waterbodies should be kept clean. There are many waterbodies in mumbai which have become dumping ground. They can be revived and kept clean. We have the dahisar river flowing adjacent to our premises. But now it has become a nallah due to the flow of sewage into it. Such indiscriminate choking of water bodies should stop and they must be revived using proper methods.
