Infiltration at LOC - What to do
National Security Advisor has just briefed the PM that 100 terrorists are at line of control, ready to infiltrate India and launch attacks in India. This will get worse as thee winter sets in because with snow and all Indian forces will not be able to get them easily. This estmeed group must discuss what should be done to increase preparedness at LOC and in major cities. Ultimately its police that will be leading the counter terrorism activity. Due to difficult, hilly, mountainous and snow bound nature of terrain around the year, best of efforts will leave some gaps for terrorists to sneak in. 100% ceiling is impossible. Selective local support enables them. The VIP culture can be ended by civil govt. The police staff enjoyed by old dead woods, retd police officials, ex mayors/ MP/MLA/MLC and insignificant ex mantris and politicians can be done away by the govt only. Kalaga sahib, we know their posts ans positions better then them but we donot believe in growing fidayeens. No technology, training or shield is fool proof against a determined fidayeen ready to die. We can discuss on phone. Police never gets directly involved in counter terrorism (CT) or counter insurgency (CI) operations. It is army and its organ RR. Police only maintains law and order and may assist defence forces in controlling an unruly mob trying to hinder, delay or stop army movements as is prevalent in the valley. As far as terrorists awaiting in the hides are concerned, will be taken care of as is being done on their appearance.. more

Inspite of best vigil on the border ,LOC is vulnerable .But many saboteurs are are Already in JAnd K being sheltered by anti national locals,and these continue to indulge in hit and run episodes grenade throwing and hide soon after . But the regular terrorists cross under most difficult circumstances with the help of Pak Rangers and local traitors . This is the most important issue that we are not able to catch. Local cordon and search of inhabited areas and aerial surveillance is the only way we can get some info. Local intelligence including police are not effective. more

The basic problem is VIP culture. It must go. Why a politician or Bureaucrat need extra protection compared to a common man. LArge part of police force is diverted for such extra security jobs. Not only this, in the name of VIP even criminals get away from security check many times. IT is right time to take up this issue seriously and stop VIP culture and extra security for so called VIPs. more
