“INDIAN RAILWAYS ON TIME”
One of the most important aspects which affect each and every commuter in Indian railways is untrustworthy as far as travel time is concern. More than 90% of trains run late with almost no accountability on anybody. Unfortunately, none of the railway ministers in past ever taken any serious steps in order to redress this issue. Our PM Modijee always talks about a single step by each citizen will moves this country by 1.25 billion steps. Similarly, even a single train late by one hour is wasting 1000 man-hours of this country at least. If the train is late because of certain unavoidable causes then we have to accept this. However, delay of train due sloppy and casual attitude should not be acceptable. Some of the steps which will help in addressing the issue will be
1. Remove SLR (Luggage van) from the train, this often leads to unnecessary delay because of unloading and offloading beyond stipulated time. It has been observed that on several occasion, either the porters or contractors does not stick to the time limit consequently the train get delayed. Moreover, the incoming train on the same platform has to wait outside for quite some time before the whole business is over.
2. If need be then run separate dedicated luggage van for transporting goods and materials.
3. We should have strictly zonal control unit for the movement of the train and we should give away this responsibility from the each individual stations passing through that railway corridor.
4. The dossier/ ACR of drivers and guards should be on the basis of their attitudes towards running the train on time.
5. Introduction of advance and automatic signaling system, this will eliminate human error
6. Making changes in scheduled of arrival and departure of the trains on the basis of least conflict in timing with other important trains.
7. All the stakeholders of Indian railways should be sensitized about this critical issue and let us dedicate one year of rail as “INDIAN RAILWAYS ON TIME”
Manavala again.. Had talk with some passengers they told a harrowing experience last winters. The Amritsar New Delhi Express remained stranded at Manavala for 3 hours and the station does not even has a basic amenities leave alone any food. After 3 hours it stranded at Shivala Crossing for 1 hour which is just 10 from Amritsar railway station. Just imaging passengers who might have been with kids and safety. In June even I was travelling in Jan Shatabdi that travels to fro from Amritsar to Haridwar and back, it remained stranded at Manavala for 1-1 and half hours. Please do listen dear new government if we have formed this forum and improve this situation as it is recurring one.

Agree. Very valid point. Currently super fast express trains are for name sake only. They take 13 hrs to finish 550 KM.

Major issues with train delays: 1. We are increasing the trains in every rail budget but in comparision tracks are not increasing. So need to take a project to increase the tracks on all major routes. 1 makes 2 and 2 makes 4. 2. All major stations must be equipped with modern technology to solve the technical problem in coaches. 3. Engine changing procedure must be expedit. 4. Conversion of non- electric lines into electrified is necessary 5. Every stations platforms need to be increase so that more trains can be accomodate.

Perfection is unimaginable in Indian railways with umpteen numbers of factors and limitations. What is needed indeed is the change in attitude and baby steps to unwind this sarkari approach of chalta hai attitude!!!
