increase of 1 μg/m3 in PM2.5 = 8% increase in covid death rate

Delhi and north India be very very careful. Research and isolated studies from different parts of the world have signalled a proportionate relationship between polluted air and COVID severity. Most notable is an ecological study from Harvard University, which found that even a small increase in PM2.5 levels was associated with an 8% increase in COVID-19-related deaths.

Results of Harvard Study: It found that an increase of only 1 μg/m3 in PM2.5 is associated with an 8% increase in the COVID-19 death rate (95% confidence interval [CI]: 2%, 15%). The results were statistically significant and robust to secondary and sensitivity analyses.

Study Conclusions: A small increase in long-term exposure to PM2.5 leads to a large increase in the COVID-19 death rate. Despite inherent limitations of the ecological study design, our results underscore the importance of continuing to enforce existing air pollution regulations to protect human health both during and after the COVID-19 crisis. more

We will never come out of Air Pollution. Since nobody want to take corrective action. Only Solution is All Govt Agencies have to be strict and Culprits must be punished severely. Presently people try to blame other agencies instead of correcting them. more
In the current scenario it appears easy to co-relate most health cases with Covid-19. But, must this be so? People are also dying due to diseases other than Covid-19. more
It will be proper to enforce existing air pollution regulations to protect human health both during and after the COVID-19 crisis more
