Improving State of Agriculture - Inputs on Solutions
Dear Friends:
Here are some of the key Root Causes outlined by you for the Current State of Agriculture in India.
1.Lack of awareness among farmers
2. Too many middlemen
3. Complex loan system
4. Private money lenders trap farmers
5. Lack of basic education among farmers
6. Small farmers have limited knowledge of money management & new technology
7.Big dependency on rain water
8.Extreme weather – floods on one side and drought on the other
9.Raw materials are getting costlier but the cost of the produce doesn’t increase by much
10.Successful techniques from the west not implemented
11. Not enough concentration on research and development in the sector
12.No moves for big investments from the government in the agriculture sector
13. Lack of ground water supply due to costs
14.Lack of modern equipment
15.Electricity is still produced through conventional sources and is hence costly
16.Agricultural labourers don’t make enough money and hence they run towards cities
17.As a nation we don't have dignity for farmers
18.Lack of energy efficient use of modern technology
19.No accountability of departments taking care of farmers welfare
20.No unity within the farmer community
21.Crops are not insured privately or by the Government
Kindly identify implementable solutions to these issues through this post so they can be summarized and submitted to PMO and related ministries for action. Kindly be as specific as possible.
Look forward to your inputs!

I would like to mention some points which i forgot to put earlier. 1.We Kerala people mostly depends upon outside states for vegetables and fruits. in order to preserve these items mostly pesticides and other chemicals which pose threat to human health and even related to cause of cancer have been widely in use . we have to promote organic farming, terrace cultivation in towns where less land availability, with involvement of house wives and NGOs.one Malayalam movie name -How Old Are You released with good intention and please have a watch. 2. Even continuous oppose by people and organisations ,Govt is not able to prevent or ban completely the usage of Endosulfan and the same had been phased out globally. Govt should introduce strict laws to prevent such usage and alternative product have to introduce with the help of labs and other agencies. 3 During our festival season - Onam, famers who cultivate around 1300 ACRES in Elavanchery, kollamkodu, muthalamala near palakkad have dumped vegetables into land bcse they were not able to sell it and no storage area is available. even horticorp or other retail marketers also didn't approach them- News BY INDIA VISION TV channel. they are facing huge loss and facing difficulty in repaying loan. It is happening in many places and Department like krishi bhavan and other NGOS should involve and act in a responsible way.
