Hygeine, sanitation

Hygeine should start at the schools so that younger children learn it and spread the message to their parents and friends.Younger children should have clean drinking water and toilet facilities at schools.

Active participation by state governments to keep the slums with hygeine and sanitation will go a long way in solving the issue. more

Parents may have to make an extraordinary effort to make well cooked nutritious food/fruit salads, etc in simple manner, same time educate children of harmful effects of eating processed food and junk food...iam sure children are very intelligent...parents may have to become role models and stop munching these foods... more
The other major contributor for un-hygeine condition of our localities/street/colonies is the equipment that we use to manage our trash. As we all know that atleast there is trash collection in major cities and towns. However the problem I noticed is that the equipment used for such work is not effective. To give an example: The trash is collected in rickshaws. However at the dumping site where there is container, the container is at a height where the rickshaw owner cannot take it up and dump into the container. Instead the trash is emptied in front of the container and causing huge littering of the street. I believe simple changes to the design of the containers/rickshaw can be big saver and ensure that garbage is loaded on to the container which then can be easily transported to the dump yards. I believe we have engineers who can design such effective systems and installed. The key point should be that they should operated only with pulleys and levers which would make it worth while. Also another point is about maintaining the trash manage equipment clean. more
We should ban sale of unhygenic eatables near schools and hospitals as a first step to prevent children from getting into the habit of tobacco and other packaged products. This will also help to prevent spread of diseases. more
as some one said charity start at home, we must teach out children and we must practice too. we are responsible for creating mess all over India. when even i travel in bus or train i saw plastic bottle, cup, thermocol cups, plates etc beside road, tracks, station, who is responsible for this, we keep our house clean, who will keep our surrounding clean, we created this mess we must clean, not Govt. who is Govt we. I saw working in nigeria long back, they have housekeeping day, for particular time/day weekly once. and very one has to participate. if some one is doing mistake we should stop him than and there. more
