Holding accountable to promises

Last year NTPC committed that they will buy the straw from farmers and get it collected. A year past now there is no progress till date or update. Yesterday, IKEA company claimed the same thing?

How do we trust any of them to deliver and who is that someone who holds these companies accountable for promises?

Amazing - unless we change this attitude which lets everything go, we are doomed. Unfortunately this is how 80% of babus in the country work. more
Burning of agricultural waste whether by farmers in their fields or by NTPC etc......? Using it to manufacture strawboards or for manufacturing furniture as in the proposal by Ikea, or turning it into ethanol are better solutions, isn't it? more
Drear Vinita Agrawal, I have written and posted the following link many times on several social media websites but have not seen any response: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5bhZxeD7T5M This story was done in the mid 90s and the technology has existed since then...there are enough entrepreneurs in India who could take this up in Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan...it is a commercially viable alternative. The clamour for air pollution in Delhi and surrounding areas has become shril in the past few years but no one provides the resolution. Engaging with NTPC will not take us anywhere. I am sure, we can resolve the issue and provide employment to the local populations... more
Briquetting of farm waste as a substitute of hardcoke and lpg gas was submitted as a scheme prior to what you are saying, and import of briquetting machines from Germany was a suggestion. But that time is gone with the LPG coming on the scene. Let us talk of innovation in the use of farm straw and other waste so that the burning could be avoided. It is for the industry in the private and public sector that can convert this waste into a commercial avenue of profit. Vinita is more progressive in this case. more
Mr. Padam Law, your posting is most unbecoming of a citizen criticising a lady who is doing remarkable job of pursuing implementation of a commitment by a government authority. What is wrong if Vinita Agarwal has questioned the fate of a promise made by NTPC last year for buying farm stubble that causes so much of pollution every year? You are being sarcastic which is not correct here. It is the time that we all impress upon NTPC authorities to inform of the difficulties in implementing the decision of picking up the farm straws and stubble and request the farmers' lobby to be helpful in the matter. more
If our minsters do not understand that that to clean the pollution from the air after burning the stubble will cost them 10 times in money including healthcare to be provided for life to affected population. They could not control it for the last three years. I do not believe that it will happen in the next year. The only positive I read today was that Ikea will investigate if the can buy this stubble and use it in their production. This I believe will happen. more
