HDFC pension branches refusing to accept Life Certificates in paper form

Following the Sept 18 SC decision that Aadhar is no longer compulsory except for DBT & IT returns, the Jeevan Praman website now clearly states that pension paying bank branches should also accept Life certificates in paper form as before, and should not insist only on Aadhar based Biometric verification.
But shockingly, HDFC Bank branches are flatly refusing to accept paper life certificates & are insisting only on Biometric based digital life certificates.
For pensioners whose fingerprints are not read by the FP readers, the advice is to go to the EPFO office! Apparently no branch has bothered to get an iris scanner as a back up.
While I have tweeted the EPFO, the Labour ministry & the minister of labour & HDFC customer care, by highlighting this issue thru Local circles, I hope the authorities will recognise & take action to help out aged pensioners.
I request members to kindly share their experiences on this issue & in case anyone knows an official who has the power to redress the problem, to plz bring it to his notice.

Life Certificate in paper form is being accepted by State Bank (Official Govt. treasury bank) then what's the problem with HDFC bank ? Sr. Citizens should not be harassed as in many cases aged persons fingerprints do't match. more
Give it to them in the digital form. Where is the problem Kind regards,Bidyut Chatterjee On Tuesday, November 13, 2018, 11:12:45 PM GMT+5:30, Kamal Hans wrote: more
The FP scanner is unable to read my fingerprints. And none of their nearby branches has an iris scanner.
Same problem being faced by several of my ex colleagues. more
Govt. should make it mandatory for all service centres and bank branches to have an iris scanner. more
Yes the government and RBI has to notify same in Gazette and circular form. That is still not done more
But the Jeevan Praman website clearly states that they have sent instructions to the pension paying branches of the banks. more
