Fuel prices,economic consequences.

Agree totally. It's resulting in prices yising inevery sphete and inflation spiralling out of control. The economic harsships of ordinary citizens appears to be of little consequence to the central govt. who are primarily responsible for the fuel price crisis. When oil prices last year were virtually zero $ per barrel, oil producers desperate to get their tankers offloaded, why didn't the govt. buy huge buffer stocks at that time, even later on when it was less than $25 a barrel?

The lack of foresight and incompetent handling of the economy has seen little accountability. The future for the masses is bleak. more

The rise of petroleum price is having spiral effect on the economy. Government should not go on increasing the taxes on petroleum products to generate revenue. It should be brought under GST or tax has to be reduced. more
Sarma Ji where did religion come into Petroleum discussion? I think you are either speaking through your hat or are speaking out of syllabus or possibly your posting was meant for some other circle but it came into this semi-circle. We already have politicians to stroke and play with religion. Hasn't the Covid drilled enough sense in the people that disease and God's curse does not identify people but just simply wipes away people. Wise, Foolish, Strong, Weak....anybody or everybody who is proud would meet this fate sooner or later. more

Why cant we first try to convince our governments to reduce the taxes on petroleum products to reduce the cost before we play around the international market prices which we cannot control. We can do what we really can do within our country. 60% of the cost of petroleum is by our own taxes. more
Deenaz has given a good insight of wasteful habits of people. Anything coming Free is not valued and that is global mentality. However the story about UPA and Oil Bonds and restrictions are all stories created by BJP's media cell who goes on inventing such stories to stem the angst rising in public. Poor Dharmendra Pradhan he never got oppportunity to present the public angst and was dropped for non performance. Coincidentally our PM rode on the wave of petroleum price rise in 2003 from 51 rupees to Rs.52/- when he grabbed focus of media saying that Congress has railed to rein the price of petroleum and that time the crude price was $57. Even now the costing of a barrel of crude is $74 containing 159 Litres...so it comes to Rs.34,28. Refining charge is Rs.3.82 and Dealers Commission Rs.3.87. Thus 1 Liter petrol without Tax is Rs41.97 with GST@28% it is increased to Rs53.72. So how does the Rates go beyond Rs.100/-. Stories would then be that States are not implementing GST or else the price would be down. I have observer in June-July every alternate days I fill petrol and the increase would be to tune of 25 paise every alternate days. So this is nothing on International Prices but internal fooling and jugglery to benefit some crude processing company and I am sure you would all be knowing which one. more
