FOG TRAFFIC ADVISORY

As the winter season advances foggy days may be expected ahead. It is advised that motorists observe certain precautions to avoid accidents and related injuries. Motorists are advised to take following measures to avoid mishaps due to fog:-
• Know your destination, plan the route before you set out and keep extra time at hand.
• Keep your vehicle in good condition. Make sure everything is in working order, especially lights, brakes, tyres, windscreen wipers, radiator, battery and car heating system.
• If possible keep a high visibility jacket and torch in the car so that you can see and be seen in case you get out of the car.
• Keep safe distance from your front & side vehicles and avoid tail-gating.
• Drive with lights on low beam. High beams get reflected back in the fog and impair visibility. Turn on fog lights if visibility is reduced to less than 100 meters. Reduce speed and slow down, watch speedometer, don’t overdrive your headlights.
• During fog and occasional rain, road could be slippery. Be careful on slippery roads.
• Do not attempt to overtake other vehicles.
• Use the right edge of the road or painted road markings/central divider as a guide and be patient.
• One needs to keep an eye on the road and use one’s ears more carefully to judge traffic that cannot be seen.
• Turn off music and don’t eat, drink, smoke while driving.
• Do not stop on a freeway or busy roads.
• If fog is very thick, it is best to pull over somewhere safe and wait for the fog to diminish.
• Drive in your lane & be patient
All motorists are advised to follow these precautions for their own safety as well as the safety of other road users.

Why get into these "nitty-gritties". Your driver will take the "path of least resistance" and you just put your fate in his/her hands. You'll reach home safe.....I did, so far! more
Good tips. DP will do well to also advise the public about the absolutely wrong practice of keeping the emergency blinking lights on while driving in the city. With these on, it is impossible to know when the vehicle in front of you is turning. Even if not turning even a slight shift from the straight path needs to be indicasted by the left/ right indicators, which is not possible if the blinkers are on. On the Highway one can have the emergency blinkers on as one is bot expected to be overtaking or turning away in the fog on the highway. But in the city driving it is irritating to see vehicle in front with blinkers turning as no indication is possible. more
Where is the Delhi CM? We never hear from him thru these circles. Earlier his ppl used to talk to junta now everyone having good life more
Very useful, however the sensitivity of most drivers is lacking. Drivers need to be sensitised. Many overtake from the wrong side or do rash driving. Whenever there is a bus around one has to keep a safe distance so as not to get crushed ro hit by the bus, motorcyclists are always in a hurry and do rash driving. The only people who seem to be safe are the drivers of new cars & scooters. more
True, The CM should go back to his early days when he used to think for people based on which he has formed AAM Admi Party, what role he is playing for the cause of those Aam Admi?? His reaction to many issues during last two years are very pathetic, Of-course we understand , he is facing many challenges which the other CM's of Delhi has not met with, but yet when the people of Delhi bestowed faith on him and his team for the second time, he should have focused more for the people of Delhi, rather than for the people of Goa, & Punjab etc. His arrogance has harmed the socio political environment more
