Exiting India is ok but must assure service to existing consumers

Many brands come to India do big advertising sell a ton of products and one fine day their headquarters decides to withdraw. General Motors, Ford, Now Nissan and hundreds of other companies.

When they do this, the consumers who bought product and needs service of their car are at a loss.

Some years back there was discussion on Localcircles about making end of service life mandatory on expensive products.

Can everyone share views and perhaps LC manager can take this issue up again with the Government? more

Diesel car manufacturers, such as Toyota, staying put, because they continue high sales, one could say, fuelled by subsidised cost of diesel. Indirectly, this feeds into sharing costs between Indian government or taxpayer, and vehicle buyer. Pollution control strictness on India's part would have ensured that these companies introduce the latest technologies that their native countries deploy, to be introduced also wherever their plants are set up. Leniency here, with foreign companies, has caused India's air being so polluted. Toyota Innova, for example sells their model Innova in Malaysia, running on petrol, because there, diesel remains unsubsidised. What gives! more
Yes. Government should have a law for all firms, local or foreign, to give service for engineered products manufactured in India, for the product sold for at least 10 years from date of sale. more
I am requesting to all, please be care full before purchasing a ‘SAMSUNG’ make products. After sales support given from company end is only vocal tonic, and that also through from phone or message. Any clients can't reach directly with any 'SAMSUNG' service engineer or an officials through direct phone no. Company share only their service agents phone no. This is my practical experience since last one year. more
It's really an important issue to think now. A good no. of automobiles company closed their establishments for various reasons that invited sufferings to users in absence of no service facility. Why consumers will bear the sufferings for no fault. it's the govt. responsible for such mishappenings in recent years. Failed to understand why Govt. is not keeping attention on such issue while signing agreement prior to set up their shops. Govt. must ensure such arrangement and take care of it. more
Many companies have a policy of guaranteeing availability of spares for say 7 years after the model has been discontinued. Something on similar lines can be thought of. more
