News report in Mint news paper says today that Online retailers Amazon and Flipkart have committed to prevent sales of “unregulated and fake cosmetics” in a meeting with the drug regulator after it was reported that many fake beauty products were being sold on these platforms.

Kindly also raise this issue such that there are penalties for shipping counterfeit to consumers unknowingly. Only when there is financial disincentive these practices will stop. What is consumer affair department's position on this issue? more

37% consumers say, Snapdeal sending highest percentage of fake products among all eCommerce sites. Of all the counterfeit products sold on eCommerce sites, 70% were from fragrances and cosmetics category.
