Environment ministry do or die

India ends up at bottom of 180 country Environment Performance Index List, Pakistan just above, China placed 161. Denmark tops followed by Finland and UK. Note: low score countries have prioritised Eco growth over env sustainability . (Source: Yale Centre for Environment Law).

Can we please do something. The Govt should either connect this ministry with us citizens or shut the same.

So embarrassing to have a ministry that doesn’t even interact with people. more

Private car ownership, has risen manifold in the last 40 years. This too would have been contained until a cheaper fuel, being highly subsidised, diesel powered vehicles made their debut about 25 years back. Petrol was relatively cleaner and also costlier. Manufacturers taking advantage of the subsidy, dieselised their cars which buyers bought, about 50% of vehicular population, seeing the running costs being cheap, based on the fuel. Planners, viz government spending on subsidies, must see such consequences that are unintented. Pollution caused remained an aspect that could or would be made out with the future. That future is now upon us. more
Over Population is the biggest culprit. It has to be controlled. more
Diesel, is the culprit. Can the rich replace their SUVs with EVs? Coal too, from mining and subsequent burning causes pollution. Being the rich man's fuel, see their huge SUVs, and subsequently the companies making these vehicles pocket too much as profit, so will they invest adequately in EVs? Environmentalists know the above is answer, but who experiences, being exposed to staying outdoors, most of the pollution - the poor! The answer is the poor. Polluter must pay. No longer can we say that the developed western nation caused historic emissions. Rich enjoy that same privilege today, therefore have equal responsibility, having the financial means, to harness technology for the necessary cleaning up. The government doing their bit, whether introducing an electric vehicle policy, or promoting solar energy. Affluent can pay it forward too. more
Basically none are sensitive, each one looks at other without any contribution. The Govt. Machinery is dumb, officials turn a blind eye, aware of everything happening on ground, their main interest lies in greasing the one above ending up to the politician. The Min. of Enviornment and the Green Tribunal is defunct as no one complies with their directives, it is for name sake that attention is been given. Instead of a seperate Ministry, it should be a part of each Ministry, which should be accountable for its contribution. You cannot have Policing for every activity. NGT has issued numerous strictures to Bhopal Muncipal Corporation for unchecked flow of unterated Sewage into Lakes, without any effect. more
Pollution is directly proportional to population. Then poverty relates to everything Next the behavioral issues . Govt should impose restrictions on polythene bags , plastc bottle . Motivation to use reusable , refilling things . more
