Effective Food Waste Disposal - Inputs Needed

Dear all:

Some of you have written to us and in comments about food waste disposed poorly by homes and by food vendors/restaurants. This not only impacts cleanliness negatively but hygiene and environment as well.

We would like to seek specific solutions for how food waste can be more effectively disposed and recycled.

We look forward to your inputs!

An organization called Annakshetra Foundation in Jaipur is doing a good work on collecting and redistribution left over food. I think such an initiative can be taken up in other cities as well. Please visit the website for more details. http://annakshetra.org/ more
Waste food can be collected by cattle growers, white pigs and goat growers for their dinner more
Yes, the Left over /wastage food should be used to produce Bio-Gas and use it to effective use. But firstly the Collection System should be in place. The Govt. should be ready to deploy some staff for ensuring this collection system is working and their performance should be linked to their Annual benefits. Mr. Rao, Municipal Commissioner, Surat Municipal Corporation has implement an effective system of collection of Waste Food from Restaurants and Hotels near Public Places in 1994. This should be done on Regualar basis. I fully believe, citizens are equally conscious of necessity of cleanliness of surrounding and shall definitely cooperate with authorities provided the facilities are working well and corruption is avoided in this. more
Recycle and using it as a bio gas is only the futuristic way and will help in multiple ways. more
recycle food waste as animal fodder more
