Drug regulator must certify cosmetic procedures

A woman developed kidney damage after undergoing hair-straightening treatments at a salon. She had visited the salon three times for a hair-straightening treatment. I know atleast 3 in the family and friends circle who had issues after hair transplant and straightening treatments.

Why are such centers allowed to open and do what they want without any Govt approval and certification.

One must get fssai license to sell cakes but these buggers are messing with people’s bodies doing all kinds of medical stuff without being certified.

Wake up Govt regulators. more

Several businesses spring up making tall claims on the benefits they can bring about. Especially in the cosmetic medical field, innumerable outlets and franchisees operate with little or no oversight. Get hair implants/grow more hair, straighten your teeth, improve physique, build muscle mass, improve your libido, make yourself fairer, lose fat quick and easy, and a lot more. Many of these treatments include the use of chemicals which are not adequately tested for side effects. There are also surgical procedures which are not based on a wholistic view of the impact. While consumers tend to be gullible, they are not always naive. Public awareness and regulatory controls are needed to bring a semblance of balance. The example in question is possible. I am aware of someone who was taking treatment for hair growth and popping many pills which led to serious side-effects. Fortunately, most of them were reversed after several months of discontinuing the pills. One must go with research and evidence based treatment rather than succumbing to high-pitched advertisement material which doesnt deliver and does more harm. more
We need to know what exactly it contains. some chemicals? more
First is this linked to this treatment? To prove this we need to find studies to show that. Also why are people going to have these treatments? Can they think for themselves? more
This should be investigated by medical exports and the report be published in all leading newspapers throughout the country. more
Is there any study linking damage to kidney after having hair-straigthtening treatment? more
