Disturbing trends in Tamil Nadu
Some political parties, fringe groups and some cinema actors and of course some people who claim themselves as environmental activists are getting huge TV and print media space in Tamil Nadu , that is vastly disproportionate to their knowledge level , contribution to the public cause or popular support amongst majority of people.
They seem to think that any project can be blocked and stopped by holding public demonstrations and protest meetings and in the same way , any project can be promoted and forced to happen in Tamil Nadu.
Tamil TV media give them so much of prominence and importance as if their views and observations reflect the opinion of majority of the people in Tamil Nadu , which is not so.
Of late, due to the support extended by visual and print media , most of which are controlled by political parities or business houses, they are carrying out a sustained hate campaign against some selected people.
Latest is the hate campaign against Tamil Nadu Governor who has been trying to bring some order and discipline in various universities in Tamil Nadu. They are patting themselves on their back, for what they think as “successfully” protesting against IPL match and showing black flag to the Prime Minister.
Many wonder as to what is their agenda and where do they get the fund support from and whether they have some ulterior motives to be achieved under the pretext of championing the cause of Tamil Nadu.
It is high time that the silent majority in Tamil Nadu should make their voices heard and register the protest against the spread of negative forces.

So true. The sad part is that "popular" sentiment seeks to overwhelm commonsense.

I feel fringe elements are everywhere.. nowadays, even educated scholers do make derogatory remarks, causing offence. The question is - whether such remarks are spondaneous or well thought out.. according to me, well planned/thoughtout statements are more dangerous than spondaneous/ill tempered persons. In general, India is losing its sheen, not alone TN.

In general whatever was happening in TN earlier was very convenient to many political parties , religious conversionists , jihadi groups with nobody challenging them and their vote banks intact; One of the best examples is the appointment of VCs , the going rate was 10 Crore and another one I can quote is NEET which abruptly stopped money flow in 1000s of crores to Educational Institution founders ; When these type of changes happen the reactions by the affected parties to be expected by pumping in resources also; They should be dealt with iron hand but unfortunately we have got a lame duck government iin TN; What IPL has got to do with Cauvery ?

I find lots of inconsistency in what is being said in these forums. Please remember, the century and the times we are living in is possibly the best this world has ever seen in its lifetime. All other statements are just humbug. Even Ram Rajya, as people say, is not the best because even Sita did not get justice and was punished for no crime. Today, you and I are able to say and do things that was not possible even a decade back. Secondly, as Gandhi once said, Individual is more powerful than the nation. We need to know how to leverage our strengths. It was and is always the individual who changes history. Naom Chomsky once said, the success of a Government lies in making you think that you are weak and can do nothing! If you think you are weak, you are defeated even before you started.
