Delays in settlement.

Had been taking up the issue of early settlement of EPFO claims through various social media platforms.

I have great pleasure to know today that,
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) on Tuesday said it has issued guidelines to its field offices to settle death claims within seven days and retirementcases before a worker retires from the job.

Labour Minister Bandaru Dattatreya on Tuesday took stock of the action taken on directions of Prime MinisterNarendra Modi during a review meeting on October 26, the Labour Ministry said.

The Central Provident Fund Commissioner (CPFC) informed the minister that on Prime Ministers' directions,EPFO has issued detailed guidelines on retirement and death cases, it added.

These guidelines have been issued to the field offices to sensitise them and "take prompt and proactive action to settle the death claims within seven days and in retirementcases on or before the day of retirement", the ministry said.

But inspite of above announcements find still PF settlement have not taken place for people who have retired in Sept 2016.
All pending cases must be settled immediately. more

Things have come to such state that everything need to go right upto Shri.Modiji & then down below things start happening.Have approached my local EPFO office as well as higher up in the zone. But so far no further feedback. Modiji have already decided & thus announcement was made that on the date of retirement or before or within 7 days from the date of retirement EPFO normal claim must be settled.Understand that already in Nationalised banks on the date of retirement even EPFO claim is settled.Problem is mainly with Public companies employees.Even though each employee's date of retirement is known as per current practice ,company can pay PF contributions of all their employees by 15 th of next month. Thus when an employee retires in early Sept 2016,their company is allowed to pay PF contributions by 15 th Oct0ber 2016.After this only EPFO claim forms are submitted. Then processing starts.Eventhough as per now announced settlement period of within 7 days, still on ground things are not happening. Hope all higher ups, inclinding honourable Ministers following this circle will take immediate required action. Understand that till the time of disbursement interest is payable. Thus if EPFO claim is settled in Sept 2016,instead of in Nov 2016, EPFO would have saved on interest. But due to lack of speed in processing the claims EPFO is ending up paying the interest.Claimant suffer due to delays which are avoidable. more
If account holder is over sixty EPFO should settle without any action by account holder. EPFO is a trustee and should conduct itself as such. more
Immediate Action is also required to enhance Gratuity Limit to All Employees of the country. Why should there be different rules and laws for Government Employees and Other Employees. Same Work, Same Pay. Equal Work, Equal Pay. more
Kindly write a letter to Mr. Modi he can only help you more
