Coronavirus - Pandemic and India's situation

Next flight from Wuhan to India is coming tomorrow. Italy and South Korea are seeing Coronavirus spread like fire. South Core has 890 cases as of this morning. last week tuesday was zero. italy is most risky as its a tourist hub and people from all countries are there. also within europe it can now easily spread as travel to and from italy happens via short flights to paris london frankfurt geneva and via trains as well. its like if south delhi has something, moradabad isnt too far.

India needs to prepare for an eventuality. clean up of hospitals, appointment of private doctors to govt hospitals, supplies, infrastructure must be worked upon.

Why are people not expressing themselves more on this i cant figure out. we are busy discussing riots and trump visit. more

While it is logical to think of preparing for this based on hospitals, a ‘pandemic” requires very different approach. The better hospital is in the BOG CITIES where the number of persons in hospitals as well as city density in India is the highest in the world. India cannot think in linear fashion. The success of control is based on “isolation”. The numbers that grow can overwhelm any infrastructure and in case of India any hospital will be equivalent to the very very poor strategy of keeping everyone aboard the Princess luxury cruise liner. For preparation one needs to set up field hospitals ( the army is expert at this). China constructed a 1000 bed hospital for the virus in 10 days. We can do the same as a preventive plan based on very well protected, insulated tents that are available globally and very affordable. Today technology offers tents which are secure for weather with isolation and the support staff are in a central area. Central air-conditioning etc can be hazards for pandemics. The patients are isolated in secure and safe tents and the entire area SHOULD NOT BE IN A BIG CITY CENTRE ( where all good hospitals are currently located) Investment in say 1000 tents and making the deployment plan from army is NOT a very expensive exercise. Above all to control ’spread” maybe very difficult to manage in a democratic India. One cannot compare with China. We see that outside China the spread is worse unless there is very strict isolation in a “low density area” Our hospitals will pose as a danger to all patients who are already immunity impaired. uday pasricha > On 25-Feb-2020, at 11:40 AM, Harsimran Kaur wrote: > > > > Harsimran Kaur > Harsimran Kaur posted a message in "Transforming India ". > Subject: Coronavirus - Pandemic and India's situation. > Next flight from Wuhan to India is coming tomorrow. PL start a signature campaign at change.org addressed to the PM and health minister more
The central and state health ministers are responsible to ensure all possible preparation is in place. The citizens should not be starting a signature campaign to remind the government functionaries about their responsibilities unless we have elected the wrong people. A regular update from the health ministries would be helpful for the citizens. more
We need to implement Anti-virus barrier before security check in all ports. more
Ms Harsimran brought out a good point. The country has to be prepared all the time for any eventualities. Mr Nanda's flippant comment that disasters will bring down population is irresponsible and cruel. Would he say the same thing if it were to befall his family. It is the duty of a Govt to safeguard the welfare of the people. more
Excellent observations from Mr. Nanda . There will be no contradiction on what is said about the incidence od COVID19 in developed cuntries , though India hasn't yet reported more than 3 so far. That is despite the hygeinic conditions existing in India despite Swachh initiatives and publicity featuring celebrities. Pobably India had a focused check , rather than check all air passengers wasting ever time, energy and resources . Thats how the 3 were detected . I was really surprised when I disembarked at Imphal , Manipur a small airport. They were alerted as * some arrivals from Hong kong and Thailand ariive frequently . * Then the international boarder MOREH is in Manipur that shares the borde with Myanmar . A lot of traffic is through this border from China, Myanmar and the entire South East Asian countries . * Thirdly Indians most may have better immune system after the way the 35 % live in conditions still as seen in in the Squalid Atmosphere. more
